I’ve just finished doing the daily update&upgrade ritual, and I had a wonderful surprise: not only do I have sound on my asus, but I have sound on the headphones’ jack! Shoutcast is “chilling out” already

- Também não consigo imprimir, pá! O computador diz: “Cannot find printer”! Não percebo, pá, já levantei a impressora, pu-la mesmo em frente ao monitor e o gajo sempre com a porra da mensagem, que não consegue encontrá-la, pá!
- Fooooooo….Vamos tentar isto: desliga e torna a ligar e dá novamente ordem de impressão.

Sócrates desliga o telefone. Passados alguns minutos torna a ligar.

- Mariano, já posso dar a ordem de impressão?

We have been around dspace all day, due to the permissions issue. We can’t get it to work. I’m busting my head to get it worked out locally but I seem to be missing something.
Apparently I’m going to work inside DSpace, editing some properties… I guess I’m the only one who didn’t see this coming – or I just didn’t want to!

Commence needs a few more tweaks, but I don’t have time right now… that means there’s people
waiting for me!

Today had CRAP written allover – and, off course, it is not over yet!

Gozando a liberdade proporcionada pelo dia de ontem (25 de Abril) vou ser radical e escrever este post em português.

Todos lá em casa – eu, Carlos e Charrete Cristina – fomos molhar as unhas dos pés pra Caparica… À parte das filas para chegar e sair esteve-se LINDAMENTE. Graças à Charrete eu e o Carlos fomos de calças de ganga para a praia – porque “… depois mais logo fica muito vento …”. O resultado foi que as minhas ficaram ensopadas e o carlos escranchou as dele O dia estava uma maravilha, a água estava óptima, a praia completamente cheia e a correria foi muita atrás da bola. Bela tarde sem dúvida!

À noite foi a alarvidade habitual durante o jantar. Pelo menos boa disposição não falta naquela casa, apesar de alguma saudade da parvalheira da outra. Abraços.

After installing a flickr plugin I erased every plugin in the directory… The price for being so stupid is that I’m not going to show any more Bauer facts, nor my LastFM latest musics. For now, at least…

Today was my father’s birthday. He loved the “Os Lusiadas”‘ edition and once he got his hands on it, lunch was not that important!
I ceased the opportunity of the afternoon drive&walk in Vila Nova de Milfontes to take a couple of pictures.
Where are they? Well, I haven’t had the time yet…

Today will be spent getting another DSpace – UMinho’s version – instance up, having it i18n’ed to portuguese, and testing a couple of addons like comments, ontologies, recommendations, com-web and ACM computing classification system.

Not having the time to get it done, it will be postponed for – I hope – the weekend.

A few corrections were needed on Commence once again… Hope all is well now.

Meanwhile, it has been detected that DSpace has some problems with the permission’s hierarchical propagation. A few tweaks are needed!

I’m to install DSpace in a server from INETI… They’re gonna bring the server here, and wait for the installation! Some serious boredom is on their way

Can’t get the card reader from this Asus to work. I’ll try more seriously when I have the time.
I took a couple of pictures taking advantage of 3% of the options of what the camera has to offer! I guess I’ll have to read the manuals in a not very far future…

Commence is messing up some encodings upon sending mails… I don’t quite get why yet!

Something was preventing the encoding to be set as it should! The charset that works for the other emails was not working for this one… So I hard-coded utf-8. Seems to do the trick!

I’ve been wanting to buy a digital camera for quite some time now. I’ve been around forums and reviews, and read excellent opinions about Sony’s DSC-H1 – being a Sony was a requisite since Sandra’s camera is threatening to permanently stop working and this way we could use the memory sticks.
Anyway, we both were in favor for this one, so last saturday I ordered it from PixMania. Due to easter, the ETA was today. I got all excited, until yesterday when I saw that the camera was “temporary unavailable”. How nice…
Later on yesterday, upon checking the order status again I noticed that the camera had been delivered to the store. Of course I couldn’t wait for today, and last night me, Carlos and Bruno (how knew where the store was) went to pick it up.

And there you have it: the story of my new toy.
